EK Gallery was proud to participate in the 2025 LA Art Show, where we showcased works by four talented artists: Paul Art Lee, Penny Lee, Jennifer Cheh, and Young Shin Kim.

Featured Artists:

Paul Art Lee

Paul Art Lee is an American born in Korea. He is an internationally active assist and is recognized as a featured artist in 2024. He is an artist, pastor, and writer. In the past two years, his artworks have been selected for Le Salon in France and international biennales. He has consistently won awards in international competitions and as been invited to museums and art shows around the world.

Paul Art Lee's artwork are themed "Light of Life." He personally explores the freedom, peace, and love found in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Reflecting his dual role as an artist and a pastor, his paintings often depict the beauty of God's creations, featuring elements of nature such as animals, fruits, flowers, and water droplets. His work is a combination of realistic and abstract elements. He aims to express God's love and grace through his art, and to heal and restore the viewers heart and soul.

Penny Lee

"The silent sea continues to be mysterious and alluring. Just as darkness and sorrow often hide behind the splendor, the search for my own color, that expresses an even deeper mystery, may come from the hidden wounds that lie beneath my shoulders.

Truly, it has been my own long journey and life itself. Even after 20 years, shaping and layering plastic materials like Yupo and Plexiglass is still not easy for me. I never gave up only because I was able to discover my own mysterious colors. Have you ever seen my colors in my paintings?

We always learn humility and greatness from nature. The vast ocean does not decay because of the 3,35% salt within it. Nature's order and wisdom should be more embraced and respected. Often flawed and shameless, we, human beings, must stand before the awe-inspiring sea and gaze into the depth of its blue. With that heart, I dedicate even a small part of my life."  - Penny Lee

Jennifer Cheh

"When I was seven years old, we moved from Seoul to New York, and like all immigrant children I started living the intersection of two cultures. My creations respond to that in-between cultural space in which layers of language, not only spoken, intersect: blending and renewing expression. Just as clay is extracted from its ground and transformed, it doesn't lose its earthy extraction.

In Full Moon Ceramics, I try to channel the principle of beauty in everyday life inspired by my asian background and the visual richness of ancient global and modern cultures. Drawn to the contrast of textures, concentric simple lines, and the beauty of imperfections, my work seeks to blur the boundary between functionality and art. Accidents can result in objects that meld the medium's nature with design purpose. Build clay at times seems to have a mind of its own, and tje fury of the fire can yield unexpected results." - Jennifer Cheh

Young Shin Kim

Young Shin Kim is an accomplished contemporary ceramist whose work bridges the rich traditions of Korean ceramic art and the innovative spirit of modern American ceramics.

Kim's artistry is deeply influenced by her bicultural experiences, blending the elegance, harmony, and simplicity of traditional korean ceramics with the dynamic creativity of the West.

Clay's malleable, transformative nature mirrors her own journey of rediscovery as an immigrant navigating the intersection of two cultures. To Kim, working with clay feels like a dialogue with history, where each piece holds the weight of tradition while remaining open to endless possibilities. Its warmth and tactile essence allows her to shape not just forms but emotions, creating vessels that hold stories of identity, connection, and renewal.

Kim envisions her art as a medium of dialogue, one that speaks to modern society's search for authenticity and interconnectedness, encouraging viewers to see beauty in simplicity and meaning in shared human experiences.

Her work has been featured in international juried exhibitions and is part of permanent collections, including at the American Museum of Ceramic Art California.
